I spent the afternoon flinging lures and wobbling roach around Salford Quays and the lower reaches of the River Irwell without success.

My friend Chris took his son fishing on the Mersey for a few hours – (oh dear Chris it looks like the fishing gene has skipped a generation in your family) – and his young man managed to catch himself the trout of a lifetime. Well done, congratulations and dont ever let your dad forget it 🙂
