Winter Roach At Heskin Old Hall Farm

I was thinking about calling this post “Health & Safety” – take a look at these pics, we were determined to fish this afternoon:)
I couldnt break the 3″ ice with a piece of scaffolding pole, and this was the heaviest lump of metal i could find in the vicinity.

I’ve always enjoyed the roach fishing at Heskin Old Hall Farm, and was pretty sure that we’d get them to feed no matter how bad the weather. I was right, and Phil and I spent an afternoon catching loads of super quality roach using hemp and caster from our small holes in the ice.

The roach fishing at Heskin Hall is consistently good, and were didnt catch a fish under 8oz all afternoon. This was Phils first visit – i think he was pleasantly surprised to catch such lovely fish on a cold day.
