Freezing Cold

Started at lunchtime and fished til dusk at 5pm. Caught nothing, no takes, no follows nothing.
Freezing cold, blue hands, lost 3 spinners and the will to live.
Maybe i should know better by now than to fish the river the day after half an inch of snow has melted.
Next weekend i am going to target the fish at a couple of the big weirs on the river in Salford, conditions permitting.

Is that Ringley Bridge?Do you know that a witch was bricked up in that clock Tower.;)
Seriously though you are getting nearer to my neck of the woods.
I had a quick look on Saturday but I leave the river well alone in winter. The drains run into it and its horrible.I have tried ledgering a deadbait but the bomb and bait just get clogged up with rubbish, stick to lures when its low and clear in summer and that double will be yours one day.

    Well spotted Phil, its Ringley/Stoneclough.

It was a horrible day but its good to try out new swims.

Your right about the drain runoff in winter but i think it was the snowmelt and road grit that really killed the day off. The river wasnt that high but was a very dirty colour.

Ah well, i hope to be able to catch some gudgeon before work on friday and then go live – baiting below some of the weirpools near Manchester.

Hope to see you on the river in summer – or do you fancy a trip out on the fly sometime?

Yes,I’m still very much a novice fly fisherman but the water I fish is pretty easy and I am hoping to get up there as much as possible.

I’ll send you a PM via maggotdrowners when I’m next going.
